Treeds (2007)

In Shetland in April 2007 Hansel launched the chapbook Treeds by local writer Laureen Johnson. Laureen’s fine poems are complemented by drawings from Hansel members John Cumming and Frances Pelly.

Published in an edition of 200 numbered copies, the pamphlet was hand-finished, with a pull-out long poem in the centre.

Treeds was recently short-listed for the Callum Macdonald Memorial Award (CMMA). This is an annual award for poetry pamphlet publishing in Scotland. There were almost fifty entries so it was gratifying for Hansel to be in the top six The award ceremony took place at the National Library of Scotland’s Causewayside building on Wednesday 7 May 2008.

Reviews

“You will read few poetry collections as enjoyable as this one, and the reason is straightforward: Laureen Johnson is an extremely talented writer.”
