Mark Ryan Smith is a writer from Shetland. He has published poems in various anthologies and journals, including Northwords Now, Gutter, The New Shetlander and Pushing Out the Boat. His book The Literature of Shetland, which was based on a PhD thesis, came out in 2014.
Le Testament and Other Translations, a collection of lively Villon translations by Shetland poet William J Tait, was edited by Mark and published in 2011 by Hansel Cooperative Press.
Running with Scissors is Mark’s most recent collection of poetry published by Hansel Cooperative Press in 2021.
