Though she had vague notions of doing art she was encouraged to get a “proper job” and so spent the first part of her adult life working for social services with children as well as being a mother.
Seven years ago she came to Shetland where she was accepted on to what is now the BA contemporary textiles course at Shetland College.
Besides painters and sculptors (most notably Naum Gabo), her work has been influenced by marine biologists at North Atlantic Fisheries College Shetland College and by the marine biologist and artist Ernst Haeckel. Working from her home in Hoswick she has established her own company Tin Shed Textiles.
